Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Langroya, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, working under the aegis of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana and ICAR-ATARI, Zone-I organized Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting on 3.2.2026 at its campus under the chairmanship of Dr. Makhan Singh Bhullar, Director of Extension Education PAU, Ludhiana. Dr. Prabhjodh Singh Sandhu, Additional Director of Extension Education, PAU, Ludhiana Co-chaired the meeting. The meeting was also graced by Dr. Manmohanjit Singh, Dean, College of Agriculture, Ballowal Saunkhri, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Chief Agriculture Officer, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar and Dr. Maninder Singh Bons, Associate Director (Training), KVK, Hoshiarpur.
On this occasion, Ms. Simran Sethi, District Development Manager, NABARD, Ropar and SBS Nagar, Sh. Kamaldeep Singh Sangha, Project Director, ATMA, Ms. Sonia Dhande, Deputy Manager LDM office, Sh. Krishan Duggal, Sub-divisional Soil Conservation Officers, Dr. Ram Sharar, DDI, Dairy development, Sh. Surinderpal Agnihotri, Principal PM Shri, SSS Langroya and other officials from allied line departments, progressive farmers/farmwomen members of the committee from the district and KVK Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar scientists also participated in the meeting.
After extending a cordial welcome to the dignitaries and SAC members, Dr. Pardeep Kumar, Deputy Director (Training) KVK, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar presented the action taken report on the proceedings of last meeting of Scientific Advisory Committee and annual progress report of activities undertaken by KVK during last year.
Dr. Rajinder Kaur, Assistant Professor (Home Science), presented the proposed action plan for the activities to be conducted by KVK during 2026-27. Dr Baljit Singh, Assistant Professor (Entomology), KVK, Langroya presented the proposed OFTs and FLDs for the year 2026-27.
In his presidential remarks, Dr. Makhan Singh Bhullar, Director of Extension Education, PAU, Ludhiana stressed upon the need to promote value addition and processing of agricultural produce for better economic returns. Dr. Bhullar also praised the strong collaboration of KVK with the allied departments at district level in joint implementation of farmer welfare activities and campaigns. He highlighted the importance of SAC meeting for playing an important role in planning out the working of KVK for serving the farming community of the area in a better way and sought suggestions from the members. Dr. Bhullar also spoke on paddy residue management and the latest cost effective and efficient technique-Surface Seeder and called for its adoption at farmer level.
Dr. Manmohanjit Singh, Dean, College of Agriculture, Ballowal Saunkhri, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar emphasized the need for conservation of natural resources and also laid stress on adoption of agroforestry as a viable option for crop diversification. He also spoke about the need for enrolment of maximum local students for undertaking degree programme of College of Agriculture at Ballowal Saunkhari.
Dr Rakesh Kumar, Chief Agriculture Officer, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar praised the KVK scientists for their good work done for the betterment of farming community and also laid stress for orientation of agriculture research and extension in line with changing weather conditions and agricultural scenario.
All the SAC members had fruitful discussion and gave their valuable suggestions for effective working of KVK.
The dignitaries also visited KVK farm, different demonstration units and trials.
In the end, Dr. Pardeep Kumar, Deputy Director (Training) KVK, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar proposed a formal vote of thanks to the guests, SAC members and progressive farmers/farm women members.

ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੁਆਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਾ. ਪ੍ਰਦੀਪ ਕੁਮਾਰ, ਉਪ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਕ (ਸਿਖਲਾਈ), ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਕੇਂਦਰ, ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਭਗਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਗਰ ਨੇ ਆਏ ਹੋਏ ਮਹਿਮਾਨਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਵੀਰ ਅਤੇ ਬੀਬੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਡਾ. ਪ੍ਰਦੀਪ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇਸ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਵੱਲਂੋ ਪਿਛਲੀ ਵਿਗਿਆਨਿਕ ਸਲਾਹਕਾਰ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੀ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਅਤੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸਾਲ ਦੀ ਕਾਰਜਕਾਰੀ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ।
ਡਾ. ਰਜਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ, ਸਹਾਇਕ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ (ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ) ਨੇ ਅਗਲੇ ਸਾਲ ਲਈ ਉਲੀਕੇ ਗਏ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ਕੌਰਸ ਸਾਲ 2026-27 ਦੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤੇ। ਡਾ. ਬਲਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ, ਸਹਾਇਕ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ (ਕੀਟ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ) ਨੇ ਅਗਲੇ ਸਾਲ ਲਈ ਉਲੀਕੇ ਗਏ ਮੂਹਰਲੀ ਕਤਾਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਖੇਤੀ ਤਜਰਬੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤੇ।
ਡਾ. ਮੱਖਣ ਸਿੰਘ ਭੁੱਲਰ, ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਕ ਪਸਾਰ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ, ਪੰਜਾਬ ਐਗਰੀਕਲਚਰਲ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਲੁਧਿਆਣਾ, ਨੇ ਤਿਆਰ ਉਤਪਾਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਲੈਬਲੰਿਗ ਅਤੇ ਪੈਕਜਿੰਗ ਤੇ ਜੋਰ ਪਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਅਤੇ ਪੀ. ਏ.ਯੂ ਵੱਲੌਂ ਸਿਫਾਰਿਸ਼ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਅਪਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਆ।ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਵਿਭਾਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਨੁਮਾਇੰਦਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਵੱਲੌਂ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਸਥਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਹਰ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਤੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ।ਮਾਹਿਰਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਦੇ ਫਾਰਮ, ਹੋਰ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸਨੀ ਇਕਾਈਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਕੇ.ਵੀ.ਕੇ ਵੱਲੌਂ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਸਿਖਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਵੱਲੌਂ ਲਗਾਈ ਉਤਪਾਦਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਦੌਰਾ ਵੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।ਅੰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਾ. ਪ੍ਰਦੀਪ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਾਜ਼ਿਰ ਮਹਿਮਾਨਾਂ, ਕਮੇਟੀ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਗਾਂਹਵਧੂ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ।
