Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bahowal, Hoshiarpur under the aegis of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana regularly conducts various vocational training courses to promote subsidiary occupations. Under this series, a vocational training programme on goat farming was conducted at KVK premises from 29th August to 4th September, 2025. In this training, 33 rural youth, farmers and farmwomen participated.
During this training, Dr. Parminder Singh, Associate Professor (Animal Science), KVK, Hoshiarpur gave detailed lectures and demonstrations on various topics of goat farming during the training course including breeding, feeding, rearing of goats, housing and equipments.
Dr. Lakhbir Singh, Veterinary Officer, Department of Animal Husbandry, Hoshiarpur shared the tips for the prevention of goat diseases. He also gave detailed information regarding the various schemes regarding animal husbandry for the welfare of farming community.
During the concluding function, Dr. Maninder Singh Bons, Incharge, PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hoshiarpur enlightened the trainees about the services rendered by KVK for the betterment of the farming community and exhorted them to adopt subsidiary occupations for augmenting their income.
