Brief Introduction

Dr Gurlal Singh Pannu joined Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) as an Agricultural Economist on 23 September 2024. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Agriculture from Khalsa College, Amritsar (2013), an MSc in Agricultural Economics from PAU (2016) and was awarded a PhD in Agricultural Economics by PAU in 2020. Prior to his current appointment, he served as a Research Fellow at PAU (2021–2024) and was associated with the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER) from 2020 to 2021. Dr Pannu’s research interests lie in agricultural finance, farm management, agricultural marketing, labour economics, and trade. He has published 14 research papers in national and international journals and has presented his work at four academic conferences. As Co-Principal Investigator, he completed a government-funded research project in 2025. He has directed primary data collection across more than 4,000 farm households and serves on several institutional committees at PAU.

  3. As Research Fellow “Impact assessment of study of central sector scheme for promotion of agricultural mechanization for In-situ paddy stubble management in Punjab” in 2023.
