Brief Introduction

Dr. Jitender Mohan Singh joined as Head, Department of Economics and Sociology, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana on April 13, 2023. He is also working as Director, Agro-Economic Research Centre, Department of Economics & Sociology, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana since January 2020. His research area is Farm Management and Agricultural Marketing. He started his career as District Extension Specialist (Farm Management) and later worked as Deputy Director (Tr.), Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Fathegarh Sahib. His major research work emphasized on investigating the economic aspects of different oilseed crops, supply chain of horticultural commodities, labour migration, resource use planning for sustainable agriculture and subsidiary occupations of farming. As Director, AERC he has written twenty-two research reports and submitted to the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Govt. of India and other funding agencies on various topical issues related to agriculture. Besides this, he acted as principal investigator (PI) in one and co-principal investigator (Co-PI) in four projects funded by reputed funding agencies. He has published about eighty research papers in various journals of repute and thirty-five extension articles in various magazines/newspapers. He made presentations in about forty ‘Research and Extension Specialist Workshops’ organised by the Punjab Agricultural University. He also delivered numerous Radio/TV talks for benefit of the farming community. Presently, he is guiding one Ph.D. and one M.Sc. students, while sixteen postgraduate (M.Sc./Ph.D.) students have completed their degree under his supervision. Dr. Singh presented papers in various conferences held in the country. He is associated with many professional societies and held various offices in these societies.
