Dr. Kamal Vatta is a Professor at the Department of Economics and Sociology, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, and currently heads the Agricultural Marketing Innovations, Research and Intelligence Centre (AMIRIC). A recipient of several academic honors, including a PhD Gold Medal and international fellowships, he has held key positions such as Comptroller at PAU and Director of Columbia Water Center (India). Dr. Vatta has led over 30 national and international research projects on agricultural economics, groundwater, rural livelihoods, and sustainable food systems. His collaborations span Columbia University, University of Cambridge, Kyoto and Kobe Universities. He has over 150 publications and has been part of 180+ academic events globally. He has taught graduate-level agricultural economics and mentored several students. As Honorary Secretary of the Indian Society of Agricultural Economics, his work bridges research, policy, and field implementation, having directly engaged with over 100,000 farmers across India
