Brief Introduction

Dr. Satish Kumar Gupta is a senior academician with over 28 years of experience in teaching, research, extension, training and institutional development. He joined Punjab Agricultural University in 1996 as Assistant Professor after completing his M.Tech. in Agro Industrial Processing and earned his Ph.D. in 2008. Currently serving as Professor and Incharge, Training and Placement, he has significantly contributed to student development and industry-institute interface. His efforts have led to the successful campus placements of over 140 students and industrial training attachments for over 450 students in the last 7 years in leading national and multinational organizations, including Mahindra and Mahindra, John Deere, CLAAS, Escorts Kubota, AMUL, Tata Tea, Goodricke, New Holland, International Tractors, NDDB, Jain Irrigation, Trident group and many more. He has coordinated 13 international training programmes in collaboration with Moscow universities and more than 150 short duration training programmes. He has handled 70+ group visits, delivered more than 125 lectures, and has been actively involved in PAU’s Kisan Melas as Co-Convener of the Agro Industrial Exhibition Committee. As Nodal Officer for ICAR’s STUDENT READY Programme at COAE&T, he has led its successful implementation since 2019. An accomplished teacher and guide, he has mentored 18 B.Tech. projects, 9 M.Tech. theses, and 3 Ph.D. students. He has published 38 research papers, 18 abstracts, 9 extension articles and presented papers at conferences. He served as President of the Alumni Association (2019–2023) during which Alumni Relations Centre was established and a number of MOA’s were signed with Alumni for various initiatives. He is also the Joint Secretary cum Treasurer of the Punjab Chapter of ISAE. With a strong focus on student development and professional growth, Dr. Gupta continues to lead initiatives that enhance employability and bridge the gap between campus and corporate.

  • Optimization of process parameters for primary and secondary processing of commonly grown pulses in Punjab funded by UGC as Co-PI

  • The designed and developed low-cost Aloe vera leaf gel extraction machine for gel extraction was approved in the 264th meeting of Research Evaluation Committee (PAU) held on 09.10.2017 and 26.10.2017 at PAU, Ludhiana
  • Filed patent for “Development of Automated Multi Vegetable Transplanter” vide Application No 202411040200 dated May 23, 2024.
  • Filed patent for “Robotic Mechanism for Plantation of Saplings in the vegetable Plantations” vide Application No 202411040199 dated May 23, 2024.

  • Best Paper Award (2023) for the paper “Examining the impact of precooling treatments on pear fruit throughout storage” authored by Kashika Mahajan, SK Gupta, SR Sharma and Swati Kapoor at VIIIth International Conference on Global Research Initiatives for Sustainable Agriculture and Allied Sciences held at UAS, Raichur, Karnataka in December 2023.
