Brief Introduction

Dr. S R Sharma has been working as Professor in the Department of Processing and Food Engineering since August 19, 2011. He started his professional journey as Assistant Professor in Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana on August 19, 1996 after completing B. Tech. (Agricultural Engineering) in 1991 followed by M. Tech. (Processing & Agricultural Structures) in 1996 from College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology, PAU. In between his B. Tech. and M. Tech., he has experience of working in the food processing industry “Oswal Agro Furane Limited” from 1991 to 1993.  He did his Ph. D. in Processing and Food Engineering from PAU, Ludhiana in 2005. He got promoted as Associate Professor in 2005 and continued to remain in this position till 2011. He also got selected for 3 months international training on “Non-thermal / non chemical processing and membrane technologies” at Washington State University, Pullman, USA under PIU-NAIP, ICAR during 2010. He has successfully executed 02 research projects as Co-PI funded by NABARD and Punjab Govt. under Mission Tandrust Punjab. He has 62 research papers, 03 book chapters, 2 Bulletins, 5 Lab Manuals, 45 extension articles to his credit. He has guided 23 B. Tech., 13 M. Tech. and 3 Ph. D. students till date. He has 3 PAU recommended technologies to his credit.

            Journal of Agricultural Engineering (JAE) Best Paper Award for the research paper “Mathematical model for perforation effect on modified atmosphere packaging of shelled pea” awarded by Indian Society of Agricultural Engineers (ISAE) for the year 2011.
