Brief Introduction

Completed B.Sc. (Forestry) in 1993, M.Sc. (Forestry) in 1995, and Ph.D. (Forestry) in 2005 from CCS Haryana Agricultural University Hisar and then joined Punjab Agricultural University as Assistant Scientist (Forestry) on July 10, 1996 at Regional Research Station Ropar. Worked as Principal Scientist (Agroforestry) in ICAR-Central Soil Salinity Research Institute, Karnal during January 2014 to September 2015 and presently working as Professor of Forestry in the Department of Forestry and Natural Resources, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana since July 10, 2011. Handled two research projects as Principal Investigator. Introduced nine clones of Casuarina junghuhniana and its hybrids in the year 2016 developed by Institute of Forest Genetics and Tree Breeding (IFGTB), Coimbatore and planted at different sites to study its adaptability and growth behaviour under Punjab conditions. Presently, primary research focus is on identification of genetically superior clones of Casuarina for commercial cultivation in Punjab and development of silvicultural techniques of this important short rotation tree species. For this, Department of Forests & Wildlife Preservation, Punjab also funded a research project on Casuarina in the year 2021 which is now been completed in March 2025.  Also awarded with National Merit Scholarship during graduation period (1989-1993).

Research Interests:

  1. Identification of superior genotypes of important tree species
  2. Development of silvicultural practices

Projects accomplished:

As Principal Investigator

  1. Development of cost-effective micropropagation protocol for mass production of Jatropha curcus funded by NOVOD Board, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India
  2. Assessing the potential of genetically improved Casuarina germplasm for commercial cultivation under Punjab Conditions funded by Department of Forests and Wildlife Preservation, Punjab

Ongoing Projects: NIL
