Brief Introduction

Dr. Mandeep Singh Gill joined Punjab Agricultural University as Assistant Professor (Horticulture) on July 10, 2008 at Krishi Vighyan Kendra, Langroya, District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar. He was promoted to Senior Fruit Scientist in 2020 in the Department of Fruit Science, Punjab Agricultural University Ludhiana. The salient findings include the release of 01 fruit rootstock and developed 15 production technologies for adoption at farmer’s level. He has published 44 research papers, 6 papers in proceedings, 1 book chapter, 04 extended summaries and 1 teaching manual. Handled 01 externally funded project as Co-Principal Investigator and participated in 11 national and international symposia/conferences. He has guided 5 M.Sc and 01 Ph.D students as Major advisor in the discipline of Fruit Science and has taught 263 credit hours of UG and PG courses. He is Incharge, Fruit Plant Nursery, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana accredited for the supply of tropical, sub tropical and low chill temperate fruits. He is involved in the production of more than nine lakh  plants and generated an income of Rs  659 lakh. He has delivered 21 Radio/Tv talks and 39 extension lectures to promote fruit cultivation and nursery production among farming communities. He has conducted 5 short-term trainings for nursery raising and management of fruit plants.
