In May 2010, Dr Ruma Devi joined Punjab Agricultural University as District Extension Specialist at Farm Advisory Service Scheme, PAU, Regional Station, Gurdaspur and is presently working as Assistant Professor.  Her main area of research is breeding of carrot, beans and cole crops.  Shehasbeen involved in the development of high yielding and nutritionally rich varieties of carrot and French bean. She is technical coordinator and imparts training in the refresher training courses for In-service extension personnel and short duration training courses for farmers/farm women etc.  She coordinates the research and extension specialists’ workshops and Kisan Melas. She demonstrates latest production techniquesof vegetable cropsto farmers by arranging exhibitions and demonstrations. She has guided 4 MSc. Students. She hasauthored one book, 5 book chapters, two manuals and 31 research papers in the journals of national and international repute. She is life member of various scientific societies.

Research Interest:

Genetic improvement and yield enhancement of carrot and beans by keeping in focus disease resistance, climate adaptation and nutritional quality.
