Brief Introduction

Dr. Shiv Kumar Lohan joined as Assistant Professor at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, under the ICAR-All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Ergonomics and Safety in Agriculture and Allied Sectors. He completed his B.Tech and M.Tech in Agricultural Engineering, specializing in Farm Power and Machinery, from CCS HAU, Hisar, in 1997 and 1999, respectively. He earned his Ph.D. from PAU in 2021, conducting part of his research as a Visiting Scholar at CPAAS, Washington State University, Prosser, USA. Prior to joining PAU, Dr. Lohan held various academic and research positions at reputed agricultural institutions and Universities, including PND College, Ganganagar; PDFSR, Modipuram; CCS HAU, Hisar; RARS, Kargil/Leh; and DAE, Srinagar, SKUAST-Kashmir, during the period 1999–2013. His significant contributions to farm machinery design and precision agriculture are reflected in two patents and three technologies recommended by PAU. Moreover Dr. Lohan has published over 50 research papers in journals with high impact factors (up to 16) and NAAS ratings (up to 20).

  • Development, Popularization and Adoption of Happy Seeder Technology in Punjab under (ACIAR) Project on “Fine Tuning of Happy Seeder Technology For Adoption In North-West India” As Research Fellow in PAU Ludhiana (2009-10).
  • Design, Development and Evaluation of an Axial Flow Thresher for pulses and oilseed Crops. Under the ICAR Project on “Optimization of Machine-Crop Parameters to Thresh Seed Crops Through Experimental Studies” As Research Associate in CCS HAU Hisar (2002-09).
