Krishi vigyan kendra, Gurdaspur organized a five day vocational training course (15.09.2025 – 19.09.2025) on “Beekeeping”. Twenty five participants from various villages in the district attended the program. Dr Sarbjit Singh Aulakh, Associate Director (trg.) inaugurated the training programe and highlighted the significance of beekeeping in skill development and rural empowerment.
Dr. Rajwinder Kaur, Asstt. Prof. (Plant Protection) gave theoretical and practical information on seasonal management of bee hives, insect pest and disease management, importance of migratory beekeeping etc. Dr. Narinderdeep Singh, Extension Specialist (FASC) discussed about economical status of bee keeping as subsidiary occupation.
S. Gurdyal Singh and Sh. Vijay Kumar, Beekeepers discussed their apicultural related problems and processing aspect of honey as value added product. S. Navtej Singh, Senior Field officer (Markfed, Punjab) shared valuable guidance on marketing skills, and discussed various schemes available with their department for marketing of honey. Sh. Javed, Manager (Punjab National bank) gave knowledge regarding loan availability to start subsidiary occupation.
The vocational training program concluded with a motivational message encouraging trainees to start bee keeping supplementing their family income. The participants expressed keen interest and shared helpful information, showcasing their enthusiasm for beekeeping occupation.
