PAU SHINES AT PUNJAB STATE INTER-UNIVERSITY YOUTH FEST, WINS 11 PRIZES

The students of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) have done marvels by clinching 11 prizes during the Punjab State Inter-University Youth Festival 2023-24, organised by the Directorate of Youth Services, Government of Punjab at the campus of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, from November 30 to December 3.

The Vice-Chancellor of PAU Dr Satbir Singh Gosal congratulated the PAU students, DDMC presidents and DSW officials for winning the medals and motivated the PAU students to work hard for the forthcoming AIU North Zone Inter-University Youth Festival.

Dr Nirmal Jaura, Director Students’ Welfare (DSW), PAU, expressed  satisfaction on the performances of the PAU students in various events and congratulated the prize-winners of the Inter-University Youth Festival. He also observed that the discipline and dedication shown by the PAU students in this festival was appreciable.

Dr Rupinder Kaur, Associate Director Culture, said that a total of 23 government and private universities from the Punjab state participated in this four- day mega youth festival. More than 120 students from PAU participated in this festival, she informed.

Sh Satvir Singh, Registering Officer, divulged that PAU students participated in a total 45 events pertaining to dance, music, theatre, literary, fine arts and heritage categories. The PAU students won gold medals in phulkari kadna, chikku bnaunah, pihri bunnah and rangoli, while silver medals were bagged in traditional ladies songs, pakhi bunnah, khiddo bnaunah and kali gayan, he said. Besides, bronze medals were clinched in vaar gayan, nalaa bunah and debate events, he informed.

Dr Kamaljit Singh Suri, Joint Director Students’ Welfare; Dr Vishal Bector, President UDDMC; Dr Gurnaz Gill; Dr Harmandeep Kaur; Dr Harleen Kaur; Dr Suman Kumari; and Dr Gagan also accompanied the PAU teams and cheered-up the university participants.
