A noted Punjabi as well as Indian actor, Mr Shavinder Mahal, popularly known for featuring in Mahabharata in 1980s, visited the Students’ Home at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), wherein he shared his life-time experience as an actor, director and anchor with the budding artistes, sportspersons, and scientists of PAU.
“You should be proud to be part of this prestigious university which has not only made a great service to the state as well as the nation through self-sufficiency in food security but has also contributed to the preservation of the rich cultural legacy of Punjab. Additionally, it has produced great litterateurs, actors and sportspersons who have carved a unique place for themselves in their respective genres,” said Mr Mahal. Further, he called upon the youth to achieve success with determination, hard work and honesty.
Dr Nirmal Jaura, Director Students’ Welfare, called Mr Mahal “one of the highly respected actors, performing different roles in different languages in nearly 300 films.”
The Associate Director of Cultural Activities Dr Rupinder Kaur highlighted the achievements of Mr Mahal, who had graduated from PAU and done wonders in art, culture and literature as student. She also put a spotlight on the nuances of the Museum of Rural Life of Punjab, designed and established during the tenure of ex-PAU Vice-Chancellor Dr MS Randhawa.
The Registering Officer Mr Satvir Singh informed about the student activities.
