Amarjit Singh Dhillon, member of the Board of Management, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, conducted a strategic visit to the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Ferozepur and surrounding rural areas on December 18, 2025. The visit, aimed at bridging the gap between government policies and the farming community, began with a comprehensive ‘Kisan Goshti’ hosted at KVK under the guidance of Dr. Gurmail Singh Sandhu, Deputy Director (Trg.), Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ferozepur. During this session, S. Amarjit Singh Dhillon engaged with a diverse group of progressive farmers, including vegetable growers, beekeepers, dairy farmers, poultry farmers and women-led self-help groups, to gather first hand feedback on the practical challenges of modernizing agricultural and allied occupations.
The delegation expanded its outreach by visiting village Talli Saida Sahu, where the board member along with KVK team held meeting with the farmers having 100-acre area under carrot cultivation alongside garlic and other vegetables.
Thereafter, team visited the Aeroponic unit of S. Manpreet Singh Sandhu at Karmuwala village and interacted with the diverse group of farmers from nearby villages. This field interaction allowed the PAU board member to witness the successful integration of advanced technology with traditional farming, such as poultry and horticulture, which serves as a model for increasing rural income and land productivity.
Concluding the visit, S. Amarjit Singh Dhillon assured the farmers that their insights and suggestions would be supported across various university and government platforms to refine agricultural policies. He emphasized the importance of collective action and advised farmers to organize into groups to make the profession more economically viable and sustainable. By promising to advocate for the needs of the farming community at the highest levels of PAU administration, Mr. Dhillon reaffirmed the university’s commitment to supporting the grassroots innovations that drive Punjab’s agrarian economy.
