ENTREPRENEURIAL GUIDANCE SESSION AT PAU FOR AGRIBUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Mr Satinder Singh, son of Mr Chamkaur Singh, visited Team NIDHI–TBI (DST, GoI) and School of Business Studies, PAU to seek guidance for expanding his agribusiness venture. He is engaged in the processing of turmeric, wheat and mustard oil. He is currently cultivating GS-7 variety of mustard and the PAU Zinc variety of wheat, and is planning to further scale-up his agribusiness operations.

Dr Ramandeep Singh, Director, SBS and Principal Investigator, NIDHI–TBI, appreciated the entrepreneur’s forward-looking approach and discussed key strategies related to marketing, branding and product positioning. He advised Mr Singh to introduce small-sized consumer turmeric packs in addition to existing bulk packaging to reach both retail and institutional customers. Dr Singh also emphasized the importance of developing a distinct brand identity, attractive packaging design, and consistent product quality to build customer trust and market recognition. He further highlighted the role of local branding, digital platforms, and participation in exhibitions and farmer markets to enhance product visibility and sales outreach. Furthermore, upon the visitor expressing interest in setting up a water-powered flour mill, Dr Singh assured support through networking, mentoring, and linkages with relevant stakeholders.

Dr Poonam A Sachdev, Principal Food Technologist and Co-Principal Investigator, NIDHI–TBI, provided technical guidance related to food processing and quality aspects, and assured continued technical support whenever required.

Mr Gurinder Singh Gill, CEO, NIDHI–TBI, motivated the entrepreneur to study customer preferences and purchasing behavior in order to effectively cater to different market segments and improve market penetration.

Mr Sameer Gautam, Business Manager, NIDHI–TBI, facilitated the enrollment process and guided Mr Singh on adopting modern packaging technologies and complying with statutory labeling requirements.

Overall, the session was highly productive and offered comprehensive strategic, technical, and operational insights to support the sustainable growth of the entrepreneur’s agribusiness venture.
