PAU HOSTS STATE LEVEL FLORICULTURE AND LANDSCAPE TALENT COMPETITION

The Skill Development Centre at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) in association with the Punjab Hunar Vikas Mission hosted a state level talent competition in floriculture, and landscape gardening for the youths.

Dr Rupinder Kaur, Associate Director (Skill Development), while welcoming the judges and the participants, highlighted the importance of holding agriculture-based competitions, which served as a motivational force and enabled youths to take interest in the beautification of surroundings and interior as well as exterior decoration with help of indoor and outdoor plants. She informed that the winners will participate in the national level competition to be held in January.  

The students unleashed their inner creativity, aesthetic sense and taste for the decorative flowers and plants in the talent competition, informed Dr Lavleesh Garg, Extension Scientist.

Mohammad Sakiv, Neha and Meet Sharma stood first, second and third in floriculture category. Harmehar Singh and Mehakdeep Singh bagged the top positions in landscape gardening.

Dr Rupinder Kaur, Dr Kulvir Kaur and Mrs Kanwaljit Kaur were the judges for floriculture competition, whereas Dr Parminder Singh, Head, Floriculture and Landscaping Department; Dr Madhu Bala and Dr Simrat Singh were the jury members for landscape gardening competition.  

Mr Sunny Diwan, State Engagement Officer, National Skill Development Corporation, New Delhi; Mrs Ravijot Kaur, Punjab Skill Development Mission, Ludhiana and Prince Bhardwaj, Training and Placement Officer, Ludhiana, also graced the occasion and congratulated the winners.
