Dr (Mrs.) Satvir Kaur Grewal, Principal Biochemist took over the additional charge of Head, Department of Biochemistry, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) Ludhiana on November 01, 2025. She did her B.Sc. (Medical) from Punjabi University, Patiala in 1988, M.Sc. (Biochemistry) from PAU in 1991, and Ph.D. (Biochemistry) from PAU, Ludhiana in 1997. She was awarded Senior Research Fellow (CSIR) during her doctoral studies. She was awarded Research Associate (CSIR) and Senior Research Associate under Scientist’s pool scheme (CSIR) and Young Scientist of (DST), New Delhi after completing her doctorate. She joined PAU as an Assistant Biochemist on 14.09.2005 and has teaching and research experience of 20 years. She has guided 23 M.Sc. and 5 Ph.D. students as major advisor, published 115 research papers, two book chapters and one review article in national and international journals and presented 15 papers in conferences. She has handled two research projects as PI (UGC and NASF) and 3 as Co-PI (DST and DBT). She is fellow of Indian Society of Pulses Research, Kanpur and Indian Society of Agricultural Biochemists, Kanpur. She is also life member of five Professional societies. Her field of research work is to evaluate  biochemical basis of defense mechanisms in  biotic, abiotic and herbicide stresses in pulses and cereals.
