GENERAL

 
 

i)

Personal books, printed reading material etc., is not allowed in the Library.

ii)

Files, raincoats, umbrellas, etc., should be kept at the property counter near the library entrance.

iii)

Particulars of your personal laptops/ i-pads/tablets should be recorded at the Gate Counter.

iv)

Taking books out of the library without authorization, marking or underlining in anyway, or disfiguring and mutilating books, or library property is a misdemeanour, which may lead to withdrawal of library privileges, or in serious cases to heavy fine and disciplinary action.

v)

No reading material can be issued to a borrower not in possession of his or her membership card, or if he or she is drawing books for others

vi)

Books shall be recalled and their issue will be suspended during the period of stocktaking.

vii)

‘No Dues Certificate’ can be secured from the library after surrendering the borrowers’ card and clearing all the dues. In case of the loss of borrowers’ card ‘No Dues Certificates’ can be issued only 14 days after the normal expiry of the membership. Provisional ‘No Dues Certificate’ cannot be issued.

vii)

Smoking is prohibited in all areas of the library.

ix)

Change of address and designation should be immediately reported at the Circulation Desk.                                            

x)

Eatables & any kind of beverages are strictly prohibited in the reading Halls.

INTERNSHIP

 

 

This program is open to all Diploma/Certificate course in Library and Information Science/B.LISc/M.LISc students, providing them with a valuable opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge in the field of library and information science on the following charges:

Students of Diploma/Certificate course in Library and Information Science

  1. One Month: Rs 750/- +5% GST
  2. Two Months:Rs 1250/- +5% GST
  3. Three Months: Rs 1750/- +5% GST
  4. Four Months: Rs 2500/- +5% GST
  5. Five Months: Rs 3000/- +5% GST
  6. Six Months: Rs 3500/- +5% GST

Students of B.LISc/ M.LISc

  1. One Month: Rs 1000/- +5% GST
  2. Two Months:Rs 1500/- +5% GST
  3. Three Months: Rs 2000/- +5% GST
  4. Four Months: Rs 2500/- +5% GST
  5. Five Months: Rs 3750/- +5% GST
  6. Six Months: Rs 4500/- +5% GST

LIBRARY AUDITORIUM:

 

 

The following charges for the use of the Library Auditorium by Government/ Semi Government departments and Private Agencies have been fixed:

Working Days: January & February: 9.00 A.M. to 8.00 P.M.

March to December: 9.00 A.M. to 9.00 P.M.

Saturdays, Sundays & Holidays and Semester break: 9.00 A.M. to 5.00 P.M.

Closed Days : Republic Day, Independence Day, Holi, Vishwakarma Day and Diwali

Note : Timings are subject to change from time to time in accordance with the orders of the University Librarian

LOAN PRIVILEGES

 
 

Timings of check-in/checkout 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on all working days.
10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Restricted Holidays and Semester Break.

Reading material can be temporarily loaned to the departments, if needed, for consultation by the members of the department. The University Librarian reserves the right to recall any library reading material at any time.

The number of books a borrower can take, and the period for which he can retain them, is as follows:

LOSS OF LIBRARY MATERIAL:

 

 

The following charges are recovered for the loss of Library material:

a)

BOOKS:

 

i)

GENERAL BOOKS: Replacement or the current price plus Rs.30/- as processing charges. In the case the current price of the lost books is not available then the price will be charged @10% increase in the price per year from the date of its procurement subject to the maximum of four times of its original price. The date of its procurement subject to the maximum of four times of its original price. The overdue charges shall be considered as remitted in case four times price is paid. The reader however is at liberty to replace with new copy of the same or better edition of the lost book or pay the current price plus processing charges.

The University Librarian is authorized to fix reasonable price for the books whose price in not available in any of the library records/catalogues and the books received as gift.

 

ii)

RARE AND REFERENCE BOOKS: Rs.150/- over and above the current price. The cost of the complete set may have to be paid for the loss of a single volume if it is not available separately plus Rs.30/- as processing charges.

b)

PERIODICALS:

 

i)

SINGLE ISSUE OF PERIODICAL: Replacement within three months or the cost of the volume if the single issue is not available.

 

ii)

BOUND VOLUME OF PERIODICAL: Replacement of the volume or four times the cost of the volume plus Rs.75/- as processing and binding charges.

c)

LOSS OF LIBRARY MEMBERSHIP CARD:

  

Loss of the Library membership card should be reported immediately to the Circulation Desk. However, the reader still remains responsible for the books issued on that card. A new library card is issued on payment of Rs.50/-.

MEMBERSHIP

 
 

Library members, only, enjoy the privilege of borrowing books. The teachers, students, and non-teaching staff of the University can enrol themselves as members by filling a prescribed application form and agreeing to abide by the rules.

Teachers and students (Postgraduate/Doctoral) from Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University may also avail of this library membership by filling a prescribed application form duly recommended by the Dean/Director/Head of Department, with the understanding that the final ‘No Due Certificate’ will be issued only after getting ‘No Due Certificate’ from Mohinder Singh Randhawa Library. Borrower’s cards, given to registered members are strictly non-transferable and are to be renewed every year.

A lost borrowers’ card if found should be deposited immediately in the Library. Failure to comply or its misuse can lead to cancellation of membership, in case a duplicate card already has been issued against the same.

Apart from the above-mentioned users the following members with the permission of the university librarian after making the payments can enrol themselves as member of the library:

OVERDUE CHARGES

 
 

The following overdue charges are recovered for library material retained longer than the period of loan from all borrowers:
i) General Books

Delay in returning the book

Applicable fine

First two weeks after the due date

₹ 2/- per day

Next two weeks (3rd and 4th week after the due date)

₹ 10/- per day

Thereafter (after 4th week from the due date

and onwards till the book is returned)

₹ 20/- per day


ii) Overnight Books: ₹ 1.50 per hour/Document
Note: Fine can be reduced or remitted on reasonable grounds by the University Librarian or any of

Official authorized by him on his behalf. However, the Incharge, Circulation Section is authorized to remit the fine o

 similar ground up to Rs. 50/-.

BOOKS PURCHASE PROCEDURE

 

 

Books will be acquired by the library on rates which would be fixed by the Central Purchase Committee on the recommendations of the Librarian every year on the basis of quotations invited from established booksellers. Books can be ordered from any source they are available and need not be limited to one single agency. Books can also be ordered from abroad for which no quotations are needed.

REPROGRAPHIC SERVICE:

 
 

Photocopy service is available to the readers of the library through a private agency on the charges 60 paise per exposure approved by the competent authority from time to time.

RESEARCH CARRELS:

 
 

Research Scholars, faculty, students and retired teaching staff of PAU, who are members of this Library, may avail facility of research carrels free of charge after filling the concerned application form. Use of Research Carrels by Casual Members and wards of PAU is on payment basis and also a subject to the availability.

Rs 100/- per Month +5% GST

24X7 READING HALLS

 

 

Library members may use Sh. T.P. Saxena Reading Hall and Dr. Kulbir Singh Gill Reading Hall, which are opened for 24 x 7. PAU Security ensures the usage of these halls by library members only.
