TECHNOLOGY 1: THERMO CERVICAL COLLAR

• Neck pain or cervical pain is one of the most common and stressful health problem that has enormously risen in last few decades due to changes in lifestyle pattern. Heat therapy is an effective source of relaxation for body aches including neck pain.
• Thermo Cervical collar was developed using the structure and pattern of a medicated collar. It was constructed by using two layers of fabrics, the inner and the outer layer made up of casement fabric and PVC respectively. A central pocket for inserting heat gel pack was made with a zipper for closure. When gel pack is heated, casement remains comfortable for the skin while PVC prevents the heat from the gel to escape out of the collar thus, providing heat to neck area for extended period of time. The collar was provided with a velcro fastener at its ends to wrap it around the neck properly.

TECHNOLOGY 2: MOSQUITO REPELLENT FABRIC  FINISHES

• Long term application of chemical substances for controlling, repelling and killing of hazardous insects have made serious anxieties for environment and human health. Most of the mosquito repellent formulations available in the market are mainly prepared with active ingredients of synthetic origin (DEET) which cause side effects like breathing problem, eye irritation, headache, cough, asthma.
• On the other hand some of the essential oils provide a very good option for mosquito repellency. They are also safe for human use and are biodegradable. In the developed technology the eucalyptus essential oil is microencapsulated and applied as finish on cotton fabric to make it mosquito repellent which is safe for both humans and environment.

 TECHNOLOGY  3: PROTECTIVE GLOVES FOR OKRA PLUCKERS

• The workers plucking okra have difficulty in plucking this vegetable due to its inherent prickly touch. The workers experience rashes, severe cuts, and redness on hands (palm and fingers) which ultimately affect their household chores such as: cooking, eating, washing etc. due to intense pain. Seeing to these problems and drudgery involved in this activity, protective gloves were designed and developed for okra pluckers. Secondly, suitable protective gloves are not easily available in the market.
