Materials Chemistry: Materials chemistry research is focused on designing, synthesizing, and characterizing materials with interesting or potentially useful applications as adsorbents, catalysis, sensors and for plant protection. Detailed studies elaborate correlation between arrangement of atoms, ions or molecules within a material with its overall properties.

Composites of ferrites and metal oxides as adsorbent, photo-catalyst and enzyme mimic.

Utilization of metal sulphides for pest management and nutritional uptake.

Chemosensors for detection of metal ions and pollutants in environmental and food systems.
- Synthetic Organic Chemistry: Heterocyclic chemistry is a prominent field in the development of agrochemicals, as most of the pesticides, herbicides and fungicides are based on heterocyclic scaffolds. The unique structural versatility and bioactivity of heterocycles make them indispensable in drug discovery and synthetic organic chemistry. We have synthesised varied heterocyclic moieties containing nitrogen atoms by using different reagents and evaluated them for their biological activity against different pathogens of crops.

- Natural Product Chemistry: Standardization of methodology for extraction of secondary metabolites from plants using conventional and green techniques for their applications in food and agriculture sectors. Development of medicinal and aromatic plants/ horticultural waste based formulations (emulsions/encapsulations) for postharvest management of horticulture produce. Technology development for postharvest management of horticultural produce. Value added chemicals from crop residues and processing by-products.
