College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology / University Data Centre

In 2009, the University administration took a significant step forward in enhancing its digital infrastructure by transforming the Computer Centre of the College of Agricultural Engineering into the University Information Technology Centre (UITC). This initiative was aimed at launching the self-supporting Master of Computer Applications (MCA) program and offering a range of IT-based solutions to support academic and administrative functions. Subsequently, the academic activities were strategically separated from IT-enabled services and transitioned to the newly established School of Information Technology.

With a generous ICAR grant of ₹4 crores and under the visionary leadership of Dr Manjit Singh Kang, Vice Chancellor, PAU, Dr Mrs. Satvinder Kaur Mann, Dean PGS, Dr PPS Lubana, Dean COAET and technical expertise of Dr. O.P. Gupta, Punjab Agricultural University established its University Data Centre, marking a major milestone in the institution’s journey toward digital transformation. The Data Centre was developed as the central hub for managing and hosting essential IT services, including web applications, e-governance platforms, academic portals, and internal communication systems. Dr. Gupta played a critical role in its planning, infrastructure development, and successful implementation, ensuring compliance with contemporary standards of data security, scalability, and operational efficiency. This landmark initiative not only streamlined the University’s operations but also laid a strong foundation for the future expansion of ICT-driven governance and e-learning at PAU. UDC is running under the control of Head, Department of Electrical Engineering & Information Technology.
