Brief Introduction

Dr. Atinder pal Kaur joined PAU as Assistant Professor on 02.09.2019 till date after completing Ph.D (Sociology) from Punjab University, Chandigarh in 2018. She did her B.S.Sc. Hons. in 2009 from GNDU, Amritsar and Master (Sociology) from Panjab University Chandigarh in 2011. Her field of specialization is rural sociology, migration and gender studies. She has guided 2 Master students and 1 PhD as major advisor, published 16 research papers in national and international journals and presented 12 papers in national and international conferences. She has delivered 13 lectures to guide women, youth to entrepreneurs and empowerment activities. Presently she is the member of the research committee of Dept. of Economics and Sociology and member of Indian Society for Agricultural Development and Policy, Ludhiana (ISADP). She is a life time member of Indian Sociological Society and NWISA.

Professional Accomplishments

  • She published two papers with NAAS >6 
  • She published one book chapter with Springer (Migrant networks and credit: dynamics of Punjabi migration to the Gulf Countries)
  • She presented one paper International Conference on Labour Migration and Sustainable Development in Asia: Opportunities, Challenges and Way forward in IIPS Mumbai titled Pandemic and return Migration: typology of debts in migrant families in Punjab (India)
  • She worked as executive member of NWISA (North-West Indian Sociological Association)
  • She is handling component of “Strengthening and Development of Higher Education in India” ICAR-1, College of Basic Sciences andHumanities, Department of Economics and Sociology

Rice residue management in crop-livestock system in Punjab (India) from International Rice Research Institute in 2022 as collaborator.
