Dr. Barun Biswas completed his B.Sc. (Ag) Hons from Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Mohanpur, West Bengal in 2006, followed by M.Sc. (Ag) in Agricultural Meteorology from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana in 2008, and completed his Ph.D. in Agricultural Meteorology from CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar in 2013. He began his professional career as Agrometeorologist at Punjab Agricultural University – Regional Research Station, Gurdaspur in December 2013, where he served as Principal Investigator of the Gramin Krishi Mausam Sewa scheme funded by India Meteorological Department till February 2025. Currently, he works as Assistant Professor in the Department of Climate Change and Agricultural Meteorology at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana since February 2025. His field of specialization encompasses crop modelling, remote sensing, and crop-weather-pest interactions. Dr. Biswas guided 08 MSc and 01 PhD students. He is currently a Co-Principal Investigator for a NABARD-funded Pilot Project for Participatory Ground Water Management- “Development of Sustainable Agricultural Practices in Kahnuwan Block in Gurdaspur District, Punjab”. Throughout his academic journey, he received several recognitions including university merit scholarship during graduation, ICAR-JRF during masters, ICAR-SRF during doctoral studies, and the Dr. R N Pal Gold Medal for best doctoral thesis at CCS HAU, Hisar.
