Brief Introduction

Dr Harsimrat K.Bons joined Punjab Agricultural University as Assistant Professor (Horticulture) at KVK, Faridkot in 2005 and elevated to the post of Senior Fruit Scientist in Dept of Fruit Science, College of Horticulture and Forestry, PAU,Ludhiana since 2018. She passed her BSc (Hons) in Agriculture, M.Sc.(Horticulture) and PhD (Horticulture) from CCSHAU,Hisar with university merit scholarship. She has qualified Indian Council of Agricultural Research-National Eligibility Test (ICAR-NET) in Horticulture- Pomology in  the year  2002. She has passed Departmental Exam in accounts for teachers in 2013. Her field of specialization is Fruit Science.

She has vast experience of 20 years in the field of research, teaching and extension. During her professional career, she has published 60 research publications in referred and reputed NAAS rated national and international  journals. She has published more than 22 abstracts in national and international conferences. She has to her credit 15 book chapters in state and national books. Involved in development /testing of 21 state/national level recommendations on fruits and vegetables involving Low seeded variety of Kinnow (PAU Kinnow-1). She is involved in teaching from last ten years and taught more than 39 courses to UG and PG students and published two teaching manuals. She has guided 5 M.Sc students and 2 Phd students as major advisor. She is member of various college level committees. She is involved in paper setting of many national agricultural universities and Subject Expert for appointment of Assistant Professor (Horticulture) and  involved in evaluation  along with conducting viva of M.Sc and Ph.D students of various agricultural universities .She is reviewer of  two national journals with naas rating >6 and six international journals with naas rating >7 .  She has good experience of more than eight years in the field of extension. She has published 2 bulletins,8 folders ,3 booklets and 69 extension articles. She had conducted 169 trainings for farmers, farm women and in-service as course coordinator in discipline of horticulture. Delivered 137 invited/other lectures  in various programmes. Delivered 20 radio /TV talks for farmers. Apart from this, she was involved in organizing various field days,awaranness camps and other demonstrations at farmers field.
