Brief Introduction

Dr. Jagbir Rehal joined PAU as Assistant Fruit and Vegetable Technologist on 12.01.2012 after completing BSc Agri. (Hons) in 1993, M Sc. (Food Technology) in 1997 from PAU. Also worked as Assistant Professor (Food Science & Technology) at KVK, Moga for 2.5 years as extension specialist. She did her PhD (Food Technology) from PAU in 2021 as an in-service candidate. Her field of specialization is fruits and vegetables. She is Class In-charge and Advisor of B. Tech. (Food Tech.) students and has guided seven masters and three PhD students besides being collaborative scientist for PG students. She has published 16 reviews, 40 research papers, one authored book, 21 book chapters with national and international publishers, 32 extension articles and two teaching manuals. She has presented 16 papers and attended 24 national and international conferences. She has also delivered 140 lectures, one TV and radio talk on processing and value addition of farm produce. Two of her technologies are approved by the REC of the university. She has served as counsellor for the Ludhiana chapter of AFST(I) and is Life member of AFST(I), Society of Krishi Vigyan and Punjab Science Congress Association.

 

Professional Accomplishments

 

TRANSFER OF TECHNOLOGY TO INDUSTRY: Development and standardization of blends of different juices from fruit and vegetable concentrates. Standardization of technology for kinnow and mango based beverage done and technology transferred to Punjab Agro Juices Ltd., Hoshiarpur (PAJL), Hoshiarpur.

 

Research Projects completed

  1. As Co-PI since 2023- Development of technology for production, farm level processing and packaging of millets and its value –added products, Funding Agency-Mission Tandarust Punjab
