Brief Introduction

Dr Kiranjit Kaur Dhatt has done B.Sc. and M.Sc. from PAU, Ludhiana and Ph. D. from GNDU, Amritsar. She joined as Assistant Professor of Floriculture and Landscaping in 1996 and served as Head of the Department of Floriculture and Landscaping from January 2019 to January 2023. She is presently working as PI of “All India Coordinated Floriculture Improvement Project” in the Department of Floriculture and Landscaping. She has developed 22 varieties of important flowering crops (Gladiolus 8, Pansy 2, Sweet Pea 5, Antirrhinum 4 and Annual Chrysanthemum 2). She has developed 10 production and 9 postharvest technologies of different ornamental crops. She has published 93 research papers in reputed national and international journals; 12 book chapters, 2 teaching manuals and 28 extension articles. She has completed four ad-hoc research projects for improvement of gladiolus and flowering annuals funded by BARC, Mumbai, ICAR and NHB, New Delhi. She has guided 6 Ph.D. and 19 M.Sc. students. She has been conferred with Smt. Harpal Kaur Memorial Award in 2023 and selected as Fellow –Indian Society of Ornamental Horticulture, New Delhi in 2025.
