Brief Introduction

After earning a Bachelors degree in Agricultural Engineering, he began his professional career as a Trainee Assistant Engineer (Mechanical) with Sugarfed Punjab in January 1991, serving at the Jagraon Cooperative Sugar Mill until March 1995. During this tenure, he was sponsored for higher studies and completed his M.Tech. in Sugar Engineering from Punjab Agricultural University(PAU) between 1992–1994. He joined PAU as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Processing and FoodEngineering on 27th March 1995. Over the years, he progressed as Assistant Professor (Senior Scale), Associate Professor,and currently serving  as Professor. He served as Head of the Department from 20th August 2018 to 21stAugust 2022 and is presently holding the charge of Additional Director of Research(Agricultural Engineering) since December 2023.In addition to departmental responsibilities, he contributed to the Punjab Horticultural PostHarvest Technology Centre at PAU for over 10 years, where he played a pivotal role in establishing a Moisture Meter Calibration Laboratory.Internationally, hehas participated in training programs and technical meetings in Thailand,USA (North Dakota State University), and the UK (Birmingham), gaining exposure toemerging technologies such as image processing for agricultural produce characterization. He has successfully led 15 externally funded research projects from international, national, andstate-level agencies. He also serves as member of the State Level Approval Committee for food processor support (Govt.of Punjab), member of the Cold Chain Infrastructure Committee for horticulture, state-level advisor for the PMFME Scheme under the Ministry of Food ProcessingIndustries, Government of India.His academic contributions include over 50 peer-reviewed research papers, more than 75extension articles, and supervision of 4 Ph.D. and over 10 M.Tech. students.

  2. Calibration and maintenance of  grain moisture meter especially available with Punjab  State Marketing Board
  3. Design development and fabrication of portable maize dryer of 3 ton capacity in the Deptt. of Processing & Food Engg.
  4. Development of low cost machine vision system for grading of citrus fruits under AICRP on PHE&T in the Deptt. of Processing & Food Engg.
  5. Drying of horticultural produce
