Brief Introduction

I joined PAU as Assistant Agrometeorologist in 1995. I did my B.Sc. (Med.) from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar in 1989; M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Agricultural Meteorology with first ranks from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana in 1993 and 2004, respectively. I am currently serving as Principal Scientist at PAU, Ludhiana. I have  handled thirteen research projects. The Ministry of Environments & Forests, India invited me to be a part of the India’s Second National Communication to UNFCCC and awarded funding through M/s Winrock International, New Delhi. Presently, I am working as Principal Scientist –cum- Scheme Incharge of  AICRP on Agrometeorology and our center has been pioneer in developing Crop-Weather Calenders for use in agromet advisory services as well use of dynamic simulation models as research and growers tool as well as in climate change impact assessment studies. As a leader of the team, we have developed a mobile-based COTFLY app for the management of whitefly in cotton.I have published more than 160 peer-reviewed research articles in both national and international journals. I have authored 1 book, 12 book chapters, 18 research bulletins, 52 popular articles and 6 teaching manuals. I have guided 04 PhD and 14 M.Sc. students as major advisor. I have organized 35 workshops/ training programmes/ climate change awareness programme and delivered more than 50 invited lectures, 14 radio/TV talks in the field of Agrometeorology. I have attended 10 international and 96 national conferences/seminars/workshops.
