Dr. Prasad Burange joined PAU as an Assistant Professor on February 17, 2011. He earned his B.Sc. in Agricultural Science from Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth (PDKV), Akola (Maharashtra), in 1997, followed by an M.Sc. (Entomology) degree from the same university in 1999. He earned his Ph.D. in Entomology in 2010 from North Dakota State University in Fargo (ND), USA, in collaboration with the United States Department of Agriculture. Dr. Burange worked at IIT Kharagpur from November 1999 to November 2000. He later served as a Research Assistant and Research Associate in various projects at the ICAR-Central Institute for Cotton Research in Nagpur from March 2001 to August 2003. He also worked as a Research Associate at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, from September 2010 to February 2011. On February 17, 2023, he was promoted to Associate Professor of Entomology, a position he currently holds. His field of specialization is Insect Taxonomy. Dr. Burange has been involved in teaching and taught over 14 B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. level courses. He has held additional responsibilities, including managing the department’s undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), and multimedia labs. He has completed two research projects funded by the UGC and DBT, guided two M.Sc. students as a major advisor, and published over 40 research papers in the journals of national and international repute. His collaborative work was featured in Nature India, and he has presented over 20 papers at national and international conferences in India and abroad. He earned three international His teaching experience spans UG, PG, and Ph.D. courses, and he has also served as an academic advisor for undergraduate students. In photography, Dr. Burange has earned three international grand prizes in the U.S.A. as well as two at the state and one at the national levels in India. At PAU, Ludhiana, in addition to official duties, he has mentored over 100 students to pursue higher education in North America.
