Brief Introduction

Dr. Rajesh Goyal joined PAU as Assistant Engineer on 22.08.2003 after completing his B.Tech (Agricultural Engineering) in 1996 and M.Tech. (Farm Power & Machinery) in 2000 from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. He did his Ph.D. ( Farm Power & Machinery) in 2015 from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana.He joined as Engineer ( Senior Scientist) in 2016 and Principal Scientist in 2019 ( till date).  He is alternate and principal member of FAD 22 & FAD 11 sectional committees of Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS, New Delhi) respectively for formulation and modification of test code of farm machines and management of agricultural practices. He is life member of Indian Society of Agricultural Engineering (ISAE). Now he is performing his duty as Incharge, Farm Machinery Testing Centre, PAU which is approved by Ministry of Agricultural & Farmers’s Welfare, Govt. of India. He is working as Co-PI  in a DST project “Development of Robotic Actuator to transplant wash root nursery of paddy using machine vision.”

 

Professional Accomplishments

He tested and evaluated more than 400 farm Machines including rotavators, disc harrow, cultivator, sub soiler,  laser/GNSS land levelers, seed cum fertilizer drills, planters, automatic seeder, mat type rice nursery seeder, paddy transplanter,  potato planters, super seeder, smart seeder,  pneumatic planter, belt type vegetable planter, tractor operated sprayers tractor operated combine harvester and straw collector, bale bundler, tractor operated straw reapers and straw choppers, reaper binder, square/ round balers, self-propelled cotton picker, self-propelled pea harvester cum depodder, self-propelled sugarbeet harvester, tractor operated portable maize dryer, tractor operated forage harvesters cum chopper cum loader, Diesel engine , wheat/paddy/maize & multi crop thresher and, tedders, rake, mulchers, chaff cutter, sugarcane leaf cutter cum shredder etc.

Refinement and multi-location feasibilities studies of straw management system for combine harvester to evenly spread loose residues.

  • Got ISAE Team award – 2018 for Straw Management System: An innovative solution for in-situ management of paddy residue in rice wheat system.
  • Gurdev Singh Khush award for advancement of agricultural sciences for excellence in transfer of technology to the farmers for the year 2018-19
  • Awarded NRDC National Meritorious Invention Awards 2019 having a cash price of 3.0 lakhs for development of PAU Super SMS
  • Honourable Governor of Punjab awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000/- and citation in recognition of significant contributions for the development of Super Straw Management System (SMS) during Convocation held at PAU, Ludhiana
