Brief Introduction

Dr. Rohit Sharma is a distinguished scientist specializing in Processing and Food Engineering. He commenced his academic journey at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, earning a B. Tech. degree in 1998. His educational pursuits led to an M. Tech. in 2001 and a Ph.D. in 2021. Dr. Sharma’s career at PAU includes roles as an Assistant Professor in Agricultural Engineering at KVK Fatehgarh Sahib from 2009 to 2012, followed by Assistant Research Engineer at PAU from 2012 to 2013. Since 2013, he has served as an Assistant Processing Engineer (Scientist). He has been actively involved in the All India Coordinated Research Project on Post Harvest Engineering and Technology, contributing to several significant projects. These include the development of sensor platform for rapid detection of chemically doctored fruits and vegetables, development of AI- Based System for Rapid Detection of Rice Ageing, development of IoT-based sensor device for detection and control of pest and rodents in grain storage structures (Collaborative Project with OUAT, Bhubaneshwar Centre) and establishing an Agro Processing center for technology training. He is a life member of the Indian Society of Agricultural Engineers (ISAE, Membership ID: LM-10702). He has published over 25 research articles in International/National journals and more than 40 extension articles. He also holds five copyrights from Govt. of India for software solutions.
