Brief Introduction

Born on 10th April 1978 at Abohar, Simerjeet Kaur obtained B.Sc. Agri. (1999) with OCPA of 8.34/10; M.Sc. Agronomy (2001) with OCPA of 8.67/10; and Ph.D. Agronomy (2012) with OCPA of 8.59/10 from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. Dr. Kaur served as Assistant Professor (2003-2007) at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kapurthala; Agronomist (2008-2016), Senior Agronomist (2017-2019); and Principal Agronomist (2020-till date) at Department of Agronomy, PAU, Ludhiana. She served in All India Coordinated Research Programme on Weed Management (AICRP-WM) for ten years (2008-2018) and bestowed with Team Award for ‘Best Centre Award’ in 2016. She has made outstanding research contributions in the field of weed management and conservation agriculture based cropping systems including 30 crop production/ protection technologies. She has published 74 research articles (including 25 with impact factor, >6.0 NAAS rating), 5 books/manuals, 8 book chapters, co-edited 16 books /bulletins and 105 extension articles. She has guided 5 M.Sc. and 3 Ph.D. students as major advisor and taught 25 agronomy courses including weed science. She is the Co-Editor-in-Chief of Indian Journal of Agronomy and Associate Editor of Indian Journal of Weed Science, Crop Science (Crop Science Society of America), Journal of Agricultural Science Cambridge and Frontiers in Agronomy journals. Dr. Kaur got advanced training in US and presented about 50 papers in national and international conferences/symposia. She is the recipient of ‘PAU Appreciation Certificate’, ISA and ISWS Fellow Award.
