Brief Introduction

Dr Sukhmeet Singh did B.E. (Mechanical) from Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala (Deemed University) and then Master’s and PhD (Mechanical Engineering)) from PAU and NIT Jalandhar. He is Principal Investigator of ICAR funded ‘All India Coordinated Research Project on Energy in Agriculture and Agro-based Industries’. As PI, he has completed a UGC funded research project titled ‘CFD analysis of rib-roughened solar air heater duct’; and a project funded by Himmotthan Society (an initiative of Tata Trusts) for development of solar dryer for apricot for Leh region. He has vast experience in the area of solar energy utilization and has developed number of technologies for the benefit of the farmers. Four of his technologies have been commercialized viz., ‘Forced Circulation Solar Dryer’, ‘Evacuated Tube Solar Dryer’, ‘Advanced Domestic Solar Dryer’ and ‘Agro-industrial Solar Dryer’. Besides, to his credit are two patents viz., ‘Pressurized All-glass Evacuated Tube Solar Water Heater’, and ‘An Improved Solar Dryer using Packed Bed Natural Circulation’. He has also been teaching Mechanical Engineering and Renewable Energy Engineering courses to under-graduate and post-graduate students.
