Brief Introduction

Dr. Surabhi Mahajan joined the University in 2010 and is currently working as Associate Professor in the Department of Apparel and Textile Science. She is the Assistant Coordinator of Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the University and also a Member, State Training Centre of Punjab Government for IAS/PCS and other Competitive Examinations established at PAU. At College level, she is the Member of College Research Committee; Secretary of Staff Council and Editor of College Newsletter. She is the Incharge of Experiential Learning Unit of her department and also the Chairperson of the Teaching Committee. Dr. Mahajan is currently a CO-PI for a Research Project entitled “Inclusive Student Advancement Framework for Academic and Skill Readiness through Digital and Pedagogical Interventions” funded by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). She has been instrumental in ‘Development of Thermo Cervical Collar’ which has been approved in REC of the University and included in the Compendium of Technologies for Entrepreneurship/ Commercialization. She has developed many UG courses for ICAR- NAHEP and for the PG curriculum under BSMA. Dr. Mahajan has played an active role in signing a MoU of the department with ICAR-NINFET, Kolkata, West Bengal for advancement in PG Research. She has guided 15 PG students as Major Advisor and has published more than 50 research papers in Journals of repute. She has to her credit many extension trainings imparted under RKVY to rural women in different villages in and around Ludhiana district for imparting them skills in dyeing and printing for income generation.

Research Project Completed

Major Research Project funded by University Grants Commission, New Delhi on ‘Mapping and Skill Upgradation of Production Workforce of Ludhiana Knitwear Industry’ has been completed as Principal Investigator.
