The Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (DEEIT) at our university has a dynamic history. Initially established as the Department of Electrical Engineering, it focused on Electrical and Electronics courses for Agricultural Engineering students and research in Electrical and Instrumentation. In 1972, the department launched an M.Tech. program in Electrical Engineering, specializing in Instrumentation and Systems & Control.

With the rise of computer science, the department evolved and in 1991, became the Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering (CSEE), introducing an M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering in 1999. The department played a crucial role in establishing the campus-wide optical fiber/wired network, providing essential internet and video conferencing. The department continues to manage this vital network and the PAU telephone exchange.

Further growth led to the Master of Computer Applications (MCA) program started in 2009. The Computer Center, initially managed by our faculty, was renamed the School of Information Technology (SIT). Subsequently, in 2018, the Department of Computer Science & Electrical Engineering and the School of Information Technology merged to become the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (DEEIT).

DEEIT offers courses to all undergraduate students across the university and postgraduate students in the College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology. It also provides M.Tech. (Computer Science & Engineering) and Master of Computer Applications programs. Our core mission is academic excellence and research in allied agricultural fields, through software development, portals, and mobile applications. It also delivers essential IT services, including email, data, voice, and video communication via the University Data Centre. This includes campus-wide Wi-Fi, internet facilities, and maintenance of the university website (www.pau.edu). DEEIT actively imparts computer education to faculty, staff, and students, and has been recognized as the best emerging institute of CS & IT by RDS Media, New Delhi.
