PAU-Farm Advisory Service Centre (FASC), Tarn Taran under the able guidance of Dr. Makhan Singh Bhullar, Director of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana organized a field day on cultivation of carrot in collaboration with the Department of Vegetable Science, PAU, Ludhiana at village Patti dated 06.02.2026.
Dr. Parvinder Singh, Incharge, FASC, Tarn Taran welcomed all the dignitaries and farmers of the area adopting carrot and other vegetable farming and enlightened the farmers regarding significance of this field day on carrot. He also discussed the importance and need to grow vegetables and fruits at home scale.
Dr. Tarsem Singh Dhillon, Additional Director of Extension Education, PAU during his address to farmers shared his views regarding the new research work being carried out by Punjab Agricultural University for the upliftment of the farmers. He also shared his experience as carrot breeder and enlisted various improved varieties of carrot developed by PAU, their distinguished characters and use for different purposes. Dr. Dhillon also appealed the farmers to adopt vegetable varieties recommended by PAU along with other agronomic practices in order to reduce cost of cultivation and increase their productivity. He asked the farmers to keep in touch with university literature to keep them updated regarding latest technologies and recommendations of the university. Dr. Ruma Devi, Vegetable Breeder, shared various tips and package of practices for successful cultivation of carrot crop.
Dr. Navjot Singh Brar, Assistant Professor (Agronomy), KVK, Booh discussed about successful cultivation of rabi crops and weed management. He further urged the farmers to keep in touch with KVK experts for various short and vocational trainings especially in the discipline of Horticulture. Sh. Gurpreet Singh, Block Technology Manager, Patti shed light on the various facilities and provided by the Department of Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare, Tarn Taran.
Dr. Parminder Kaur Sehajpal, Principal Extension Scientist (Plant Pathology) discussed the management practices for various insect-pests and diseases of carrot and other vegetables. Dr. Savreet Khehra, Senior Extension Scientist (Fruits) extended vote of thanks to the dignitaries and the farmers. More than 150 farmers participated in this event. An exhibition comprising live samples of different carrot varieties, charts and posters related to carrot and other vegetables, activities of FASC, awardee farmers were displayed and PAU literature was sold. Twelve progressive vegetable growers of the area were also honoured during the event.

ਡਾ. ਪਰਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ, ਇੰਚਾਰਜ, ਐਫ. ਏ. ਐਸ. ਸੀ, ਤਰਨ ਤਾਰਨ ਨੇ ਪੀ ਏ ਯੂ ਤੋਂ ਆਏ ਹੋਏ ਵਿਗਿਆਨੀਆਂ, ਹੋਰ ਵਿਭਾਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਗਾਜਰ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਬਜ਼ੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਖੇਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਦੇ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੀ ਆਇਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਖੇਤ ਦਿਵਸ ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣੂ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਘਰੇਲੂ ਪੱਧਰ ‘ਤੇ ਸਬਜ਼ੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਾਸ਼ਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਤੇ ਜੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ।
ਡਾ. ਤਰਸੇਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਢਿੱਲੋਂ, ਵਧੀਕ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਕ, ਪਸਾਰ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਰੱਖਦਿਆਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਭਲਾਈ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਖੋਜ ਕਾਰਜਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਜਾਣੂ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ । ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਗਾਜਰ ਵਿਗਿਆਨੀ ਵੱਜੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਤਜਰਬੇ ਵੀ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਵਿਕਸਤ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਗਾਜਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਸੁਧਰੀਆਂ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਲੱਖਣ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਉਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਲਈ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ। ਡਾ. ਢਿੱਲੋਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਖੇਤੀ ਦੀ ਲਾਗਤ ਘਟਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਉਤਪਾਦਕਤਾ ਵਧਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਿਫ਼ਾਰਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਤਕਨੀਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਪਨਾਉਣ । ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਨ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ । ਡਾ. ਰੂਮਾ ਦੇਵੀ, ਸਬਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਗਿਆਨੀ, ਨੇ ਗਾਜਰ ਦੀ ਸਫਲ ਕਾਸ਼ਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਨੁਕਤੇ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਕੀਤੇ ।
ਡਾ. ਨਵਜੋਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਰਾੜ, ਸਹਾਇਕ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ (ਫ਼ਸਲ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ), ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਕੇਂਦਰ, ਬੂਹ, ਤਰਨ ਤਾਰਨ ਨੇ ਹਾੜ੍ਹੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਫ਼ਸਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਾਸ਼ਤ ਅਤੇ ਨਦੀਨ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਬਾਗਬਾਨੀ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਥੋੜੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਿੱਤਾ ਮੁਖੀ ਸਿਖਲਾਈਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕੇ ਵੀ ਕੇ ਦੇ ਮਾਹਿਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਪਰਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣ। ਸ. ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ, ਬਲਾਕ ਟੈਕਨੋਲੋਜੀ ਮੈਨੇਜਰ, ਪੱਟੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਮਹਿਕਮੇ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਸਕੀਮਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਹੂਲਤਾਂ ਤੇ ਚਾਨਣਾ ਪਾਇਆ।
ਡਾ. ਪਰਮਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ ਸਹਿਜਪਾਲ, ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਪਸਾਰ ਮਾਹਿਰ (ਪੌਦਾ ਰੋਗ) ਨੇ ਗਾਜਰ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਬਜ਼ੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਕੀੜੇ-ਮਕੌੜੇ ਅਤੇ ਬਿਮਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਰੋਕਥਾਮ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ । ਡਾ. ਸਵਰੀਤ ਖਹਿਰਾ, ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਪਸਾਰ ਵਿਗਿਆਨੀ (ਫ਼ਲ) ਨੇ ਆਏ ਹੋਏ ਵਿਗਆਨੀਆਂ, ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਵਿੱਚ 150 ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ। ਗਾਜਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਮੂਨਿਆਂ, ਗਾਜਰ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਬਜ਼ੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਚਾਰਟ ਅਤੇ ਪੋਸਟਰ, ਐਫ. ਏ. ਐਸ. ਸੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ, ਇਨਾਮ ਜੇਤੂ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪੀ ਏ ਯੂ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨੀ ਵੀ ਲਗਾਈ ਗਈ । ਇਸ ਮੋਕੇ ਤੇ 12 ਅਗਾਂਹਵਧੂ ਸਬਜ਼ੀ ਉਤਪਾਦਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਤ ਵੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ।
