Admin Offices / Kisan Melas

Since 1967, PAU’s Kisan Melas (Farmers’ Fairs) have fostered innovation and strengthened the bond with farmers. Organized twice a year, in March and September, these Melas cover Punjab’s major farming regions, including the sub-mountain zone (Gurdaspur), rainfed zone (Ballowal Saunkhri, Nawanshahr), south-western zone (Bathinda), central plain zone (Rauni, Patiala), Majha (Nag Kalan Jahangir, Amritsar), and Malwa (Faridkot) regions, attracting over 100,000 farmers to the two-day flagship Mela at PAU Ludhiana. Key highlights include:

  1. Agro-Industrial Exhibitions: Agro-industrial leaders showcase the latest advancements in machinery and tools for the farmers that can enhance the mechanisation of field operations.
  2. Seed, Planting Material and Literature Sale: There is an unwavering enthusiasm among farmers for seeds of PAU varieties (Suddre Beej), planting material, fruit plants, and agricultural literature with many travelling from far-off places in Punjab and neighbouring states.
  3. Competitions and Awards: The Kisan Melas celebrate the outstanding achievements of Punjab’s farmers.
