Kisan Diwas was celebrated with enthusiasm at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Ludhiana (Samrala) with the participation of 205 farmers from different parts of the district on 23.12.2025. The programme aimed to honor farmers, disseminate the latest agricultural technologies, and promote sustainable and diversified farming practices.
During the event, Dr. Amanpreet Singh, Assistant Professor (Agronomy), delivered a training lecture on organic farming, highlighting its principles, benefits, and role in improving soil health and sustainability. He also conducted a method demonstration on the use of the surface seeder, emphasizing its usefulness in effective residue management, timely sowing, reduction in cultivation cost, and conservation of natural resources. The demonstration attracted keen interest from farmers, who appreciated its relevance under Punjab conditions.
Dr. Veerpartap Singh (Horticulture) delivered a training lecture on horticultural crops, focusing on crop diversification, improved production technologies, and income enhancement through fruits and vegetables. He highlighted the importance of horticulture in increasing farm profitability, ensuring nutritional security, and strengthening farm resilience. Dr. Parvinder Kaur, Assistant Professor (Home Science), conducted a session on the role of women in enhancing farm income. She emphasized women-oriented activities such as value addition, processing, kitchen gardening, nutrition management, and self-employment enterprises, underlining the significance of women empowerment in rural development.
Overall, the Kisan Diwas celebration at KVK Ludhiana (Samrala) was successful in enhancing farmers’ knowledge, promoting sustainable agriculture, and strengthening farmer–scientist linkages.
