Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Langroya, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar organized a farmer scientist interaction on rusts of wheat at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Langroya.
During this event, Dr Pardeep Kumar, Deputy Director (Training) highlighted the importance of control of plant diseases in field crops for higher productivity and farmers were guided about the identification and management of plant diseases in general and rusts of wheat crop in particular.
Dr. Baljit Singh, Assistant Professor (Entomology), KVK, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar explained in detail the integrated management of insect pests of rabi crops.
The experts suggested to the farmers that in fields where rust incidence is observed, spray the crop with 300 g Taqat 75 WP or 200 g Caviet 25 WG or 120 g Nativo 75 WG or 200 ml Ampect Xtra 25.5 SC or 200 ml Opera 18.3 SE or 200 ml Custodia 320 SC or 200 ml Tilt 25 EC/Shine 25EC/Bumper 25 EC/ Stilt 25 EC/Compass 25 EC/Markzole 25 EC in 200 litres of water per acre. Initially only spot application surrounding infected area should be done. Thereafter, regularly monitoring of the crop should be done and repeat the spray as per need.
The team also visited farmer fields and monitored the wheat crop for the incidence of yellow rust disease. The farmers were guided to recognize the disease symptoms and spray the recommended fungicides for managing the disease.
