A five-day Capacity Building Programme on Agrometeorology, organized under the All India Coordinated Research Project on Agrometeorology (AICRPAM), concluded at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana on December 5, 2025. The programme, conducted from December 1–5, 2025, aimed at familiarizing scientists from AICRPAM centres across India with the latest technological advances and operational tools in the discipline.
Dr P.K. Kingra, Head, Department of Climate Change and Agricultural Meteorology, welcomed Dr M.S. Bhullar, Director of Extension Education, PAU; Dr S.K. Bal, Project Coordinator, AICRPAM, CRIDA, Hyderabad; and all participants. She commended the participating scientists for their dedicated involvement and rigorous engagement throughout the training.
In his remarks, Dr S.K. Bal highlighted key components of the programme and underlined its significance in enhancing national capability in agrometeorological applications. He emphasized the objective of offering hands-on training on newly developed models, software, and decision-support systems relevant to agricultural planning. A noteworthy feature was a demonstration of the Atlas of Climate Adaptation in South Asian Agriculture (ACASA). Dr Bal assured participants that emerging tools being developed at CRIDA would soon be released to support policy planning at state and central levels.
Addressing the gathering as Chief Guest, Dr M.S. Bhullar termed the training a unique initiative under AICRPAM and underscored the integral role of agrometeorology across scientific disciplines. He encouraged continuous refinement of models, software and mobile applications to ensure they remain farmer-friendly and operationally effective.
Dr Bhullar later presented certificates of participation to the trainees.
The programme’s concluding session was coordinated by Dr P.K. Sidhu, Principal Scientist and AICRPAM scheme-in-charge, while Dr S.S. Sandhu, Principal Agronomist (AICRPAM), delivered the vote of thanks.
