PAU FASC HOSHIARPUR (GANGIAN) CONDUCTED EXPOSURE VISIT OF FARMERS TO ESTABLISHED BEE FARM

Punjab Agricultural University’s (PAU) Farm Advisory Service Centre (FASC), Hoshiarpur, (Gangian) conducted exposure visit of 25 farmers to established bee farm of KVK Gurdaspur in village Jharoli district Gurdaspur on 18-9-2025. The exposure visit was aimed to equip farmers and aspiring beekeepers with essential skills and knowledge to establish and manage sustainable beekeeping enterprises. This visit allowed participants to observe real-world beekeeping practices and gain insights into effective hive management. Dr Sarbjit Singh Aulakh, Associate Director (Training) Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Gurdaspur welcomed all the farmers and officials for their visit and gave detailed information about KVK activities and its contribution to agricultural development of the district. Dr. Rakesh Kumar Sharma, Senior Extension Scientist (Entomology), FASC, Gangian provided participants with both theoretical insights and hands-on experience in seasonal pest and disease control. Dr Rajwinder Kaur Assistant Professor Plant Protection, KVK Gurdaspur highlighted the benefits of migratory beekeeping and value-added bee products beyond honey. Dr Indira Devi, District Extension Scientist (fruits), FASC, Gangian guided the farmers regarding role of horticulture crops in beekeeping.

Dr Charanjeet Kaur, Principal Extension Scientist (SM) thanked all the participants and also shared the various farmer welfare initiatives undertaken by FASC Hoshiarpur (Gangian).
