PAU-KVK, Ludhiana (Samrala) conducted five day vocational training during 20-27.01.2026 on ‘Healthy nursery raising and protected cultivation of Vegetable crops’ in collaboration with Department of Vegetable Science, PAU, Ludhiana under the guidance of Dr Satpal Sharma, Head, Department of Vegetable Science and Dr Vipan Kumar Rampal, Associate Director (T), KVK, Samrala.
This training was conducted for the uplift of SC/ST farmers under the scheme of SCSP-2021-22 and total 30 farmers participated from different villages. During the training various lectures were conducted by scientists of PAU and KVK. Dr Dilpreet Talwar, Extension Scientist (Vegetable Science) discus about the importance of protected cultivation of vegetable crops and tells the techniques for containerized nursery. Dr Veerpartap Singh, Assistant Professor (Fruit Science) gave lecture on topic protected cultivation of tomato, brinjal & capsicum, low tunnel technology marketing of vegetable crops and practiced the trainees during the five days of training . Dr Parvinder Kaur, Assistant professor (Home Science) discus about the kitchen garden for family nutrition and processing of vegetables. Dr Amanpreet Singh, Assistant Professor (Agronomy) gave lecture on the management of soil health in vegetable crops. Dr Baljit Singh, Assistant Professor (Entomology), KVK-Langroya discus about the various pest and diseases in the vegetable crops and their management. Dr Om Parkash Meena, Vegetable Breeder gave important tips regarding growing healthy vegetable nursery for successful vegetable cultivation.
At the end of training, certificates along with vegetable seeds kits, plug trays and books for vegetable cultivation were distributed to the farmers.
