Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Moga hosted the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting on January 21, 2026. The meeting was chaired by Dr. M.S. Bhullar, Director of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana. Dr. M.S. Bhullar emphasized strengthening collaboration with allied departments to create awareness among farmers about adopting a business-oriented approach for processing and marketing of agricultural produce. He highlighted that such initiatives would help farmers secure better prices and enhance their income. He also directed KVK to intensify awareness campaigns on resource conservation technologies and the adoption of short-duration paddy varieties in the region.
Dr. G.S. Mangat,Additional Director of Research, PAU, Ludhiana, stressed the need to reach unreached villages of the district for effective dissemination of PAU technologies. He further advised promoting mushroom cultivation as a rich source of vitamin D, along with crop diversification and green manuring practices to address the issues of declining groundwater levels and soil fertility.
The meeting commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Parminder Kaur, Professor (Home Science). Dr. Kamaldeep Singh Matharu, Deputy Director (Training), KVK, Moga presented the Action Taken Report of the previous SAC meeting, the Progress Report, and the Action Plan for 2026–27, highlighting farmer-oriented activities. This was followed by an open discussion, during which valuable suggestions were invited for incorporation into the future action plan. Dr. Gurmail Singh Sandhu, Deputy Director (Training), KVK, Ferozpur, also gave value able suggestions for the improvement of action plant.
Participants included representatives from various line departments such as the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Department of Horticulture, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, ATMA, Cooperative Department, along with progressive farm men and women of the district Subsequently, Dr. Mapreet Jaidka, Assistant Professor (Agronomy), and Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Assistant Professor (Entomology), facilitated visits to various demonstration units at KVK, including the Technology Park, Oil Processing Unit, Bee Cafeteria, Kitchen Garden, and Fruit Nutrition Garden.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Prabhjot Kaur, Assistant Professor (Animal Science), acknowledging the valuable guidance and participation of all dignitaries and SAC members.
