Under the aegis of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, and ICAR-ATARI, Zone-1, Ludhiana, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Langroya, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, organized a vocational training programme on “Preparation of Eco-Friendly Cleaning Agents” for entrepreneurship development from 15th to 19th September 2025 at the KVK premises. A total of 25 trainees participated in the training.
Inaugurating the programme, Dr. Pardeep Kumar, Deputy Director (Training), KVK Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, motivated the participants to adopt subsidiary occupations such as eco-friendly product development to generate sustainable income in agriculture-based households.
The training was led by Dr. Rajinder Kaur, Assistant Professor (Home Science), who provided hands-on demonstrations for the preparation of low-cost, high-benefit cleaning agents suitable for both domestic and commercial purposes. Practical sessions included the preparation of liquid dish wash, black phenyl, liquid surf, hand wash, and bio-enzyme cleaners. Participants were also given an opportunity to test and provide feedback on the developed products to evaluate their efficacy.
In addition to the demonstrations, lectures were delivered on procurement of raw materials, preparation methods, packaging, labeling, marketing, and branding of eco-friendly cleaning products. These sessions aimed to equip trainees with both technical know-how and entrepreneurial skills.
Mrs. Renu Bala, Demonstrator (Home Science), highlighted the importance of hygiene and conducted demonstrations on powder surf, phenyl and multipurpose cleaner. She motivated the trainees, especially women, to form and strengthen Self-Help Groups (SHGs) for collective production, marketing and income generation through eco-friendly cleaning agents.
The programme concluded with an assurance from the KVK team to provide continuous technical guidance and support to trainees for transforming their skills into entrepreneurial ventures.
