Dr J P Singh, Professor has 29.5 years of teaching, research, and extension experience and 5 years: 6 months of administrative experience as a Hostel Warden, one year: 4 months as Head (Additional Charge), and appointed regular Head on March 1, 2024, Department of Soil & Water Engineering, PAU, Ludhiana. Dr Singh was awarded Jawahar Lal Nehru Award for the best Ph D thesis by the ICAR, New Delhi. Young Scientist Award & Kunwar Saxena Bahadur Award, Fellowship Award, Agricultural Engineering Division Medal, Commendation Medal Award, best Research Paper Award & Oral Research Paper Presentation Award by the professional societies. He taught about 8 UG & 8 PG courses, and guided 3 Ph D students & 13 M Tech students, and was instrumental in starting a new PG (M Tech) program in Remote Sensing & GIS in the department. Dr Singh is handling the FIST, DST-funded project as PI and several competitive & AICRP projects as CoPI. He was a Technical Advisor to Pb Govt for the design and installation of a subsurface drainage system under a drainage project. He has published about 75 research papers in National & International journals and presented more than 30 papers at seminars/conferences. One of the developed technologies, “Filter for Canal Water Potability,” has a PAU recommendation. Dr Singh is a convenor of FAD 17/P3 “ Irrigation & Drainage”, BIS, India, and has been a member/chairman of various committees at the State & National levels on water management, waterlogging & drainage.
