The department of Soil and Water Engineering is working in area of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, Soil and Water Conservation Engineering and Groundwater management focusing on the following thrust areas to address sustainable resource management, agricultural productivity, and climate resiliencet;

1. Sustainable water resource management and climate resilience.
2. Solar powered micro irrigation and automation for enhancing water productivity.
3. Reclamation of salt affected waterlogged areas and automated controlled drainage for enhancing crop water productivity.
4. Smart farming (Soilless cultivation & vertical farming) and protected cultivation for high valued crop.
5. Integrated watershed development and management for soil and water conservation in Kandi region.
6. Geo-spatial applications in natural resource assessment and management.
7. Higher education in the field of Soil & Water Conservation Engineering, Irrigation & Drainage Engineering and Remote Sensing & Geographic Information System.
8. Dissemination of developed technologies to the beneficiaries.
